Torquay is full of history and one place especially interesting for the visitor is Torre Abbey, Torquay's oldest building. It holds a fabulous collection of fine art paintings, sculpture and antiques and is definitely worth a visit!

If you are in the Babbacombe area, try out the Babbacombe Cliff Railway. The cars are connected to four cables which pass round the traction mechanism in the station at the top of the hill. Another four cables are fixed to the bottom of the cars and pass through a pulley mechanism under the station at the bottom of the hill. These cables help keep the cars stable. It is a most unique system and a great way to get to Babbacombe Beach which is tucked away.
